$18.5 million to Southern Tier family after failure to diagnose and treat
A Cattaraugus County man went to medical providers in Western New York complaining of symptoms that were consistent with a stroke, such as severe headache and neurological problems. Medical staff failed to properly diagnose and treat, delaying the treatment that could have prevented serious injury. Because stroke treatment must occur quickly, the delay caused the patient to suffer a massive stroke, leaving him with permanent and catastrophic brain damage and disabilities and eventually passed as a result of complications.
